Corporate Support and Workplace Giving

Thank you H-E-B!
We thank H-E-B for selecting Earth Share of Texas to be the beneficiary of its in-store coupon promotion for April 2012, in recognition of Earth Day.  And thanks to all of you for tearing off check-out coupons worth $1, $3, or $5 and making your donation in support of environmental work in the Central Texas, Houston/Galveston, Gulf Coast, Rio Grande Valley and Border, San Antonio, plus North Texas Central Markets.

The tear-pad promotion enables H-E-B customers to support the environmental program work of more than three dozen Earth Share of Texas organizations.  The contributions will be divided among Earth Share of Texas organizations with program work in each H-E-B region.  Friends of Big Bend National Park will be a beneficiary of this campaign in the Gulf Coast (Corpus Christi) and Rio Grande Valley Markets.  THANK YOU H-E-B!!

Reliant
Want to help Big Bend National Park and offset your carbon footprint at the same time? Reliant Energy and EarthShare of Texas have launched The Reliant EcoShareSM, a program that allows Reliant customers to support EarthShare of Texas and its participating organizations and help reduce the customers’ carbon footprints through the purchase of carbon offsets.

Here’s how it works: The Reliant EcoShareSMprogram gives customers the option of two pricing levels:
  • For a flat monthly cost of $3.95, a $1 donation is made each month to EarthShare of Texas, and 500 pounds of carbon offsets are purchased.
  • Or for a flat monthly cost of $5.95, a $2 donation is made each month to EarthShare of Texas, and 1,000 pounds of carbon offsets are purchased.

Friends of Big Bend benefits, because as one of EarthShare of Texas’ participating organizations, a portion of the Reliant donation is shared with us.  Carbon offsets for the Reliant EcoShareSMprogram meet approved standards to ensure that they represent real, verifiable reductions in greenhouse gases.

Whole Earth Provisions and Patagonia Teamed Up for the Park!
In September 2009, Whole Earth Provision Company and Patagonia teamed up to help Friends of Big Bend.  For every pair of Patagonia footwear purchased during a certain time frame, Patagonia contributed $5.00 to the Friends of Big Bend.  Thanks to both companies – what a great way to help the park!

Workplace Giving makes an impact!
For many offices, workplace giving is in full swing.  Employees from many corporations and cities across the state of Texas have the opportunity to support the Friends through their workplace gifts.  The Friends are represented by EarthShare of Texas, an umbrella group for Texas’ leading environmental and conservation groups.  Many campaigns are underway, so look for pledge cards at your workplace!

You can find EarthShare of Texas campaign literature on pledge cards at all state agencies; all state colleges and universities; federal agencies in most parts of Texas; Houston and Austin school districts; Austin, Dallas, El Paso, San Antonio, San Marcos and Houston municipal offices and many private employers.

If your employer doesn’t offer the chance to support the Friends and other Earth Share of Texas environmental groups, contact Courtney at friendsdirector [Email address: friendsdirector #AT# yahoo.com - replace #AT# with @ ] to find out how you can make environmental giving a priority for your employer.

Matching Gifts
You can double the impact of your gift with a simple form from your payroll or human resources office.  Thousands of companies worldwide provide a match for their employee’s charitable contributions.  This year Friends of Big Bend National Park has received matching gifts from several companies including BP, El Paso Corporation, ExxonMobil, Hewlett-Packard and TransCanada.  Be sure to submit your matching gifts form to your employer every time you make a donation – and we thank you for making the most of your charitable contributions!
