Hot Springs Historic District - Lankford House J.O. Lankford homesteaded the Hot Springs area in 1909 after hearing stories of the healing power of the springs. Lankford had a history of poor health and sought the therapeutic powers of the hot springs. He moved his pregnant wife and 18 month old daughter to this remote area. With much help from Mexicans already inhabiting the land, Lankford experienced success developing the Hot Springs.
